Madrid is a joy to shoot: the city is generous with light and texture, and frames come together even where you don't expect them. The only challenge is the harsh midday sun, so timing decides everything. Here's how a shoot in Madrid — plus the best photo spots in Madrid works and how I work in the Spanish capital.
All about the light
Madrid's light is a character of its own. At dawn and blue hour it's soft and golden; midday it's contrasty and hard. So I always set portraits and love story for early morning or sunset: skin looks perfect with no heavy retouching.
Where we shoot
Retiro Park and the Crystal Palace — soft morning portraits by the water. Malasaña and Chueca — colourful facades and murals for vibrant lifestyle. Gran Vía and Plaza de España — urban scale at dawn before the crowds. Royal Palace and Sabatini Gardens — monumental frames in morning light.
The format
I run the shoot in Russian and English. In 90 minutes we cover several locations and build a series with the real mood of the city. Originals right away, final photos within two and a half weeks.
Cost
From 200 € per hour for an individual shoot, love story from 250 €, wedding from 450 €, brand content from 550 €.
